Kenwood KPG-22U is the genuine programming cable for all Kenwood two way radios that have the 2-pin accessory connector. This programming cable is designed for use with digital walkie talkies and analogue walkie talkies. Full-speed USB2.0 compliant. The device driver is supplied on a CD. The device driver is also available to download.

Why KPG-22u?

The Kenwood KPG-22U is the only genuine and official USB programming cable. Kenwood insist that you should only ever use a genuine Kenwood cable when programming radios. This is because only genuine Kenwood cables are verified for use with Kenwood radios.

Kenwood KPG-22U utilises the CP210x chipset and the UART Serial to USB Bridge. This is extremely important as the KPG-22U is able to ensure that data it transmitted from your PC to the radio at just the right speed. This results in a reduced chance of a buffer-underrun and hence minimises the chance of "bricking" your radio during programming - which is as bad as it sounds - a "bricked" radio is as good as a doorstop.

Some other cables such as those with prolific chipsets do not always work with Kenwood radios. This is mainly because of data transfer speed issues which cannot be regulated using other cables and chipsets.

Compatible Radios

This cable is a 2-pin Kenwood cable with USB to Serial built-in. It can be used with the following radios. There might be more radios which are compatible but this is a list supplied by Kenwood.
